PREVIEW: Wildhollow!

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Our next preview is a game called Wildhollow by KarjaSoft.  Now they bill this as an adventure game however it’s not strictly a traditional old school “graphic adventure”.  It seems to have some simulation type elements as well, such as breeding animals and stuff.  It is, from the looks of it, point and click though.  I’ll have to be honest here, as much as I hate anime and manga, this actually graphically looks on point for the style, and the backgrounds look pretty good too.

Here’s a teaser video for you:

You can read more about it after the dotted line.

(ags) Ben Jordan Case 5: Land of the Rising Dead

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Aug18 Okay so by now you already know the drill.  It doesn’t appear that there’s any major changes in the rest of the Ben Jordan games.  Obviously it’s going to be a good story.  The graphics seem similar to the rest, but I haven’t played it yet.  I will get to it in a moment.  I will probably like the music.  Okay so why am I writing a review when I haven’t actually played it yet.  Well I’m late and I’m running out of things to talk about in the first paragraph of these BJ cases.  I’m going to be playing it and giving you the review as I play it.  How’s them apples.

Here’s the dust cover description (ie the blurb on the Grundislav games website): “After the events in London, Ben Jordan returns home for a much needed rest. One day, he receives a conference call from his friends Simon Booth and Alice Wilkins. Simon has heard of a series of murders in Osaka, Japan, and thinks there is some sort of paranormal activity involved. Ben, Simon, and Alice travel to Japan, but soon find there is much more to the story than they first thought…”  Sound interesting?  Good, read more next!

(ags) Ben Jordan Case 4: Oh the Horror!

Note: Fixed the Case 4 page link at the bottom of the reviews.

Our intrepid Paranormal Investigator is back for his 4th case.  Ben Jordan Case #4: Horror at Number 50!  I have to say a little bit about Case 3 though as my review wasn’t really based on me finishing that case.  The music is still like the best thing (next to the story).  And the author upped the ante with regards to story and character by introducing Percival Quentin Jones (sorry if I misspelled it it’s not often one has to spell Quentin or Quinton, or Quinten, or Quintan or something).  Case 3’s story has a few twists that showed the developer’s growing as a writer.  Now fresh after his visit to London to do some boring paperwork for “Percy”, Ben Jordan is contacted by someone who owns number 50 in Berkley Square in London.  I guess it’s a house or an apartment (flat for all you UK folks) or some such thing.  In any case there were rumors of hauntings that lead to eventual death.  So it’s not your typical ghost story.  This time around, Ben has 4 other investigators to help him solve the case.  So if you’re as into the Ben Jordan series as I am, then read on!
