Okay so the subject today, students, is cats. No not the musical. I do not understand why anyone would want to watch people prance around in cat costumes. Although maybe watching yummy women in cat costumes… er… never mind. According to Wikipedia, until recently cats were commonly believed to have been domesticated in ancient Egypt. But a study in 2007 showed that cat lines of descent probably run through as few as five self-domesticating African Wildcats. I mean, like wow. Cats making them selves choose fancy feast over Meow Mix? Buying themselves litter boxes and using them, and using words like “indeed” and “so forth”, and so forth. Amazing. What’s even more amazing is a cat’s ability to render a human harmless by simply sitting there looking cute. You know such famous tough guys as Wolverine, Jack Bauer, and John Wayne have been disarmed by little fuzzy bundles of claws playing with balls of yarn or tripping out on catnip! Okay so I made the catnip part up! Who’s to know for sure. I even have a theory of why there are so-called “Cat Ladies” in existence.

Monday, May 4th, 2009Pahelika: Secret Legends – You no lika my Pahe…
Tuesday, April 28th, 2009Sorry for the nonsense title. First let me apologize to those at IronCode for not getting this out on time, and mostly to you readers. I totally dropped the ball this time. There was no excuse, I simply was being too lazy today. I promise it will never happen again! Today is still Tuesday April 28th, at 11:23 PM, so technically I can still get this out on time. I’m going to actually schedule tomorrow’s (xblcg) review for 8 pm. To give Pahelika at least 20 hours by itself. I’ll try for 4 pm for Thursday, and finally 12 pm for Friday’s review. So at least they have some time before another review pushes it down. Then I’m going to try to get back on the ball for Monday. So again I apologize. So without further ado, may I present to you, Uhfgood’s review of IronCode Software’s Pahelika: Secret Legends. Another quickie note, this is technically a preview, although I’m reviewing the full game. They don’t have a demo yet and are going to release on April 30th. Since they asked me earlier I thought I would go ahead and give this review a priority. (As well as another developer has asked to review their game, which I already was going to, so I decided to push them up to Thursday. So now Tuesday’s and Thursday’s reviews are now set for next week. Sorry for any inconvenience.)
(xblig) Totem – Me Likem Totem
Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009According to Merriam-Webster online a totem is “1) an object (as an animal or plant) serving as the emblem of a family or clan and often as a reminder of its ancestry, and is also a usually carved or painted representation of such an object and 2) one that serves as an emblem or revered symbol”. Although the term is of Ojibwa (largest group of Native Americans north of Mexico) origin, totemistic beliefs are not limited to Native American Indians. Similar totemism-like beliefs have been historically present throughout much of the world, including Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Africa, Australia and the Arctic polar region. A totem pole is a large sculpture carved out of a tree, and may include these totems as described above. What does this have to do with our next XBLCG game? It’s called Totem, of course! According to the official description Totem is “Intense matching Totem destruction! Two game modes…survival and adventure complete with 28 levels and 4 elemental bosses.” Let’s see if it stacks up to that definition.
