Turtle Shepherd – If Babe was about a turtle, it would be this game.

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

QUICK NOTE: Apparently Mystic Peanut Entertainment no longer exists, although the game wasn’t that great I think the developer had a good start that is, they completed a game and we all know how hard that is. I’m leaving this post up for posterity but the links have been removed.

Today’s review is going to be my most negative so far.  Most computer games are massive undertakings.  Although you can do it with a single person, it’s better to have more than one.  Even lone-wolf developers outsource some artwork and so forth.  This is why it’s understandable that not every game can be fun, or a hit.  Today’s game is called Turtle Shepherd, by Mystic Peanut Entertainment.  In it you play a turtle named Tuki, who has grown up enough, that he has to get a Job.  And what’s a turtle to do for work?  Why herding sheep of course!  This would be pretty cute if it didn’t have some flaws.  It’s a 3D game in the third person.TurtleShepherdSS01

Space Journey – Tic-Tac-Toe, Three in a row!

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

SpaceJourneySS00 Okay so maybe it’s not tic-tac-toe, and maybe it’s not strictly in a row, but it is at least three or more.  Yes I’m talking about the dreaded Match-3 games!  Yes this is my first Match-3 review.  And also yes I may review more.  Why are they dreaded?  Well technically they’re not.  It’s just there’s a lot of them.  And people are making a lot of money off of them.

Dyson – I think that I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree.

Friday, March 6th, 2009

Well I don’t know much about trees, or poems about them.  But there is a game written about a kind of tree called a Dyson tree.  Just what is a Dyson tree you ask?  Let’s call on our friend Wikipedia for an answer, shall we?  According to Wikipedia, “A Dyson tree is a hypothetical genetically-engineered plant, (perhaps resembling a tree) capable of growing in a comet, suggested by the physicist Freeman Dyson.”  Okay what does this have to do with games?  Well our next game is called, you guessed it, Dyson!
