EUO – No funny title for this MMORPG (Sans the Massively)

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

Okay… It’s been a long time coming, but there was one more “Banner Drawing” entrant called EUO and was created by a Mr. Max Breedon.  Basically it’s “a retro multiplayer online RPG inspired by the early Ultimas, Nethack, Diablo, gold-box AD&D, Magic Candle, etc.”  At least that’s what the website says.  Since I haven’t really played those games much I’ll just have to take it’s word for it.  For what knows better what a game is, than it’s website, unless maybe it’s creator.  Here’s a cool video someone made showing some of the game :

Game is fairly fun, if you like multi-player online rpgs.  You can see the old-school vibe coming from the video.  Best of all it’s free.  There are some things you can buy in the real world that give you some help in the game world.  Buying stuff in the real world for the game does not give you more of an advantage over free players, but it does help you out when you play.   You aren’t required to buy anything to play the game though, because it’s free.  It’s just good manners to help indies when you enjoy their game.  More after the break.

If you play your cards right, some of your excentric new friends may even join you, when your strive to solve the mystery tormenting this beautiful world.”  It looks to be quite a treat as seen in their teaser video:

Dawn’s Light – I’m actually playing an RPG, Japanese style no-less!

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Yes you read that correctly. I (Keith Weatherby II) am actually playing a Role Playing Game which I said I would never play ever.  Okay that’s not true, I said I never get into RPGs because of their pointless side quests and anime characters.  I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again, I hate anime/manga.  However the graphics in here are on point as we would say in the US or “spot on” as the English would say.  Before I get more in depth I gotta say I really dig this game.  The name of the game is Dawn’s Light by John Wizard games.  (The website has a nice easy to read layout with nice colors, but this isn’t a review about websites).  It started out with an easy tutorial.  The controls are simple.  And it does basic hand-holding in the beginning.  I don’t know if it changes later on because my Trial expired.  I feel that I got enough of an idea of the game with the trial, which makes me think you should try it then buy it.  Here’s a video of the game in action:
