Entropy Poker A.I. – Sounds very umm… computery

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Our next banner entrant is Ergod with Entropy Poker A.I.  I’m not really sure how to classify this.  It’s not strictly a game.  Sure Poker is a game, and sure you can play against the computer.  In fact as far as I can tell you don’t play against humans at all (Of course the only way you could do that is over the internet, but I digress).  Generally speaking this is a simulation designed to help you get good at poker by offering AI in the form of simulated neural nets.  Well if you don’t know what all that means, it simply means it tries to copy brain processes to provide it’s artificial intelligence.  Firstly I don’t think that much of this, not because it isn’t useful or what it’s for, but mostly because it’s not really set up as a game.  I wouldn’t run this software if I wanted to relax from a day of hard work.  I would, however, end up using it so I could up my game when I play poker with real people, which is precisely what it’s made for.

Carcophony or “Sim-Traffic Light”, you decide!

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

In the world of sims there has been one oft neglected subject to build a sim game on.  Not Sim-Laundry, or Sim-Moonwalk, or Sim-Pencil Sharpener.  It’s traffic lights!  That’s right, if ever a subject needed a simulation it would be traffic lights!  So now we have our next banner drawing entrant glpeas with Carcophony!  Now you too can be your own traffic-light tycoon.  Guide cars to their destinations with traffic lights.  Would you like to learn more?  Then read on after the video!

Awesome Soccer is Awesome

Monday, December 14th, 2009

Well, I just thought that was a cool name, not that I necessarily think it’s awesome, not that I necessarily don’t, not that I necessarily, well, I suppose I used necessarily too much.  It’s called Awesome Soccer by Red27 Studios!  All-in-all it’s a decent soccer game (football for you European folks).  Graphics and sound are well done for an indie game, and it’s fun to play.  However I think this is more for soccer/sports enthusiasts than general game players.  The keyboard control is a little tricky but you can also use a gamepad (I used my wireless xbox360 controller with windows).  Gamepad is a lot better for control.  Check out some video. (I realize this is probably the same video as in the preview but now you don’t have to click the preview).

To get the in-depth, read on…
