Mind wall by Seth Robinson aka mrfun

MiniReview2SS My second mini-review is for a game called Mind Wall from the 14th Ludum Dare 48 hour compo.  Okay so the goal of the mind wall is to remove one block of an advancing, floating “wall” so that the piece in the lower left corner of the screen fits through it.  You know that game show where the beautiful women contort themselves into odd positions in order to fill through a human sized hole in a wall being pulled down a line towards them, usually with a pool of water at one end when they happen to fail to fit through?  Yep it’s like that, except no beautiful women.  Which is rather sad.  But the game is rather good.  As some have said it’s a bit too short.  I have a feeling that if Mr. Robinson added more levels and changed it up a little he could probably sell that thing.  Fun to play.  You should try it!

May08The morning was cool and still as a thick fog crept over the battle fields.  The only sounds that could be heard was the distant sounds of clinking armor, and of cook fires being put out by kicking sand or water buckets.  “Prepare the firing line.” said Cunningham to his Bow-master.  Bow-master Rowan was also his Arch-Duke Cunningham’s Sergeant-at-Arms.  Rowan walked silently to the archers at the ready.  The fog was starting to lift as Rowan dropped his arm with his thumb pointing downward.  The line of archers dipped their arrows in small braziers which held a curiously blue flame.  Rowan raised his hand as the archers raised their bows, with their blue-flamed arrows, and then just as the fog lifted he dropped his arm!  There was still no sound except for the sound of hundreds of arrows being loosed into the air.

(ags) Ben Jordan Case 1 – I must love adventure games about the paranormal.

May04 I seem to keep reviewing AGS-made adventure games that revolve around paranormal themes.  Okay maybe they’re just making them.  Okay so it was just the two Blackwell Games.  Okay so Ben Jordan and Blackwell have the paranormal in common, and, the Shivah and Ben Jordan have murder in common.  Actually that’s not true.  The Shivah had someone die and leave money to the Rabbi.  I only played the demo so I don’t know if it has anything to do with murder.  Ok so here we go, I already spilled the beans, today’s adventure game is called Ben Jordan, Paranormal Investigator in In Search of the Skunk-Ape by Grundislav Games!  Sound intriguing.  I bet Skunk-Ape grabbed you right there!  As I understand a Skunk-Ape is sort of like a smelly Big Foot.  And you all know how smelly feet are!  I decided to review the deluxe version, as it seems the creator’s original vision did come up to par with the rest of the series.  In any case, let’s see how this thing works out!
