The morning was cool and still as a thick fog crept over the battle fields. The only sounds that could be heard was the distant sounds of clinking armor, and of cook fires being put out by kicking sand or water buckets. “Prepare the firing line.” said Cunningham to his Bow-master. Bow-master Rowan was also his Arch-Duke Cunningham’s Sergeant-at-Arms. Rowan walked silently to the archers at the ready. The fog was starting to lift as Rowan dropped his arm with his thumb pointing downward. The line of archers dipped their arrows in small braziers which held a curiously blue flame. Rowan raised his hand as the archers raised their bows, with their blue-flamed arrows, and then just as the fog lifted he dropped his arm! There was still no sound except for the sound of hundreds of arrows being loosed into the air.

Or is that Jazz it up with Zatarain’s? We’re not talking about rice. We’re talking about the new game Zatikon from Chronic Logic. Chronic Logic is the company that made Gish, or at least I think so. Actually when you look at their website they have a lot of games, more than most companies that have been in the business for as long as they have. Apparently according to Wikipedia they also publish (or is that distribute) indie games from other authors. It’s cool though, I’m fairly certain Zatikon is a Chronic Logic Original. They’re so awesome they’ve got their own MobyGames entry! Or at least they must be awesome, because not everyone has an entry on MobyGames ;-) And why the heck am I gushing, I don’t even really know the company. I played the Gish demo like once (before I was reviewing games) and found it too odd for my tastes. Okay okay, so what is Zatikon? It’s some sort of strategy game, like chess (but not really like chess) or Stratego (okay maybe more like that, umm I don’t know). Let’s find out about this interesting game.

What is it with the various forms of fiction and the name Jack? 1.) Jack Bauer from 24, 2.) Jack Bristow from Alias, 3.) Jack O’Neill from Stargate the movie, and Stargate SG-1, 4.) Jack Napier aka The Joker from Batman, 5.) Jack Ryan from the Tom Clancy Books and respective movies, 6.) Jack Shephard from Lost, 7.) Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean, 8.) Jack Frost, 9.) Jack and the Beanstalk, 10.) Jack Black – okay okay so he’s a real guy, but he’s so goofy he SHOULD be a fictional character! Okay so there’s even MORE fictional characters than that. Other Jack notables: Jack Daniels whiskey, Singer Songwriter Jack Johnson, actor Jack Palance, actor Jack Nicholson who coincidentally played Jack Napier alias The Joker in the Tim Burton version of Batman (they even have the same initials J.N.), Jack Kirby comic book artist, Jack Lord from Hawaii Five-O, a Jack or connector, the Jack which is the lowest face card in a deck of playing cards, Jack in the box, Jack of all trades, Jack boots, actually it’s one word jackboot, but still you get the picture
