“There are people among us who call themselves Manipulators. These Manipulators can take control of your mind and use you. They are a threat to us; we must get rid of them at once! Be alert! Do not trust anybody!” This is the blurb offof the Virtanen Games website for their, somewhat odd, platformer called “The Manipulator“.

The Manipulator – There are pretenders… er umm… manipulators among us!
Thursday, February 26th, 2009Hurrican – Here I am, rock me like a TURRICAN!
Monday, February 23rd, 2009Okay almost every other review of the game that’s almost a remake but not quite, Hurrican, has used a line from the famous Scorpions song. I had to do it myself even. Because when I think of the name I think of that. In any case, I’ve played the original Turrican only briefly.
Hurrican is a ‘jump’n’run’ platform shooter, from a German group called Poke53280 (note, it’s in German). You play a cyborg who goes to a planet that’s the source of an attack on planet earth. Apparently you’re shooting like robots and stuff because I couldn’t get a clear idea of what they were. The graphics and music is really nice, but the control scheme makes it hard to play.
Help! The “WALLS” are closing in!!!
Thursday, February 19th, 2009What started as an entry in the ld48 compo on Ludum Dare, became the finished product known as “Walls” by GBGames. This is my first game review and I thought I should review a friend’s game. The GB of GBGames is none other than Gianfranco Berardi (sorry if I got the spelling wrong), defender and developer of Linux games and all around nice guy. (He also happens to make Windows and browser ports of his games.)
Walls is a deceptively simple game. You control a small blue block with your mouse, and al you have to do is to touch the Goal marked, yes you guessed it “Goal”. The only catch is, there are these red things called “walls” that start to grow, and if you touch the walls you lose the game.
