The face of BOH

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Oct14 We’re not talking about an episode of that new-fangled Dr. Who here.  We’re talking about the ghosts of Amiga Computer’s past.  Er, Games of Amiga’s past.  According to the know-all see-all Wikipedia, The Amiga was a family of personal computers originally developed by Amiga Corporation. Development on the Amiga began in ‘82 and  Commodore International bought Amiga Corp and introduced the machine in ‘85.   What does this have to do with our game?   Because of the Amiga’s superior audio/video capabilities a majority of the Amiga community was into games, including the person who created this game.  They wanted to bring that feeling back to modern machines.  The game is called BOH by Simone Bevilacqua and is, according to the website, an original, retro-flavored game of exploration and action searching for the “Evil Masters” whatever that means.  So how does this game fare?  Unfortunately for me, it didn’t fare too well, read on to find out more.

(ags) Ben Jordan Case 5: Land of the Rising Dead

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Aug18 Okay so by now you already know the drill.  It doesn’t appear that there’s any major changes in the rest of the Ben Jordan games.  Obviously it’s going to be a good story.  The graphics seem similar to the rest, but I haven’t played it yet.  I will get to it in a moment.  I will probably like the music.  Okay so why am I writing a review when I haven’t actually played it yet.  Well I’m late and I’m running out of things to talk about in the first paragraph of these BJ cases.  I’m going to be playing it and giving you the review as I play it.  How’s them apples.

Here’s the dust cover description (ie the blurb on the Grundislav games website): “After the events in London, Ben Jordan returns home for a much needed rest. One day, he receives a conference call from his friends Simon Booth and Alice Wilkins. Simon has heard of a series of murders in Osaka, Japan, and thinks there is some sort of paranormal activity involved. Ben, Simon, and Alice travel to Japan, but soon find there is much more to the story than they first thought…”  Sound interesting?  Good, read more next!

(xblig)Wordzy for XBLCG – Whatzy?

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

July22 Words, Words, everywhere there’s words, in books and on game shows, it’s getting absurd, read this and that, can’t you read the words?  What’s up with word games?  Word games for fun and profit.  Everybody likes word games.  Jumble, Scrabble, Crossword puzzles, etc.  So it’s with some pleasure, okay a little pleasure, okay not really, word games aren’t my thing.  Well actually that’s not true, I like wheel of fortune.  I don’t mind doing crossword puzzles every once in a while.  In any case the next review is for the Xbox Live Community Game called Wordzy.

My thoughts on the game:  It’s just ok.  It’s essentially a guessing game, and it gives you no hints as to what the mystery word is other than filling in the first letter and giving you a bonus letter.  If you want to know more, it’s after the jump.
