Anirah – Riddle of the Pharaohs (with no riddles or Pharaohs)

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Anirah, Riddle of the Pharaohs by Lost Luggage Studios is supposed to be an Egyptian-themed tile matching game similar to Mahjongg.  Okay seriously, there’s no real Egyptian theming to the game.  You can select a skin though that is somewhat, but by default, it’s just, well, default.  It’s not a match-3 game at all, but it is similar to Mahjongg.  Did I like it?  About as much as I do Mahjongg.  Essentially I like playing Mahjongg but it’s never my first choice.  I usually end up getting sucked into multiple games if I start one, and that’s sort of how this game is.  Here’s a brief video to show you how to play, and if you’re still confused, I will help clear it up with the rest of the review.

Pikgem – A cute little maze / 3d platformer

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

Our next banner drawing entrant is a game called Pikgem by DConcept.  Why they call themselves that, I have no idea, but the game is decent.  It’s about a guy named Gulpy who is trying to collect gems through various worlds.  I would say this game is slightly above average.  While it’s fairly standard with collecting things, jumping over, and shooting bad guys, it is fairly solid.  If you want to know more check out the video below and read the rest of my review.

Star Guard rocks your retro world!

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

Pew! Pew! Pew!  If you don’t know already that’s laser gun sounds as made by my mouth.  That’s my comment about Star Guard by Vacuum Flowers!  That’s it!  Kidding of course… this game is more fun than playing Star Wars with your 7-year-old friends and arguing who’s going to be Han Solo and who’s going to be Darth Vader!  “I get to be Darth Vader!”  “But you’re always Darth Vader!” “I have the inhaler!  Plus I know how to use the Dark Side of the force!”  “I get Han Solo, because I’m cooler than you!” “But I don’t want to be Luke Skywalker, how come you guys always get Darth Vader and Han Solo?!?” “Because you’re just a kid” “I’m six years old!” “But we’re 7 now grab your lightsaber Luke, I am your father!”  Well Star Guard is even better than that!

Note: While trying to be funny it may have sounded as sarcastic, but really Star Guard is retro-style-gaming-goodness and a side of fries!  Here’s the video to prove it:

I almost should just leave it at this like I did with Space Spy, only in this case it would be because of how awesome it is, instead of, well… I’ll just leave it there.  Anyways if you want to know more continue on…
